What is The Patients Union?

The Patients Union is an organization built by patients and for patients. TPU was launched in 2026 by a founding team that has personally experienced pain at the hands of our broken healthcare system and are fed up with seeing millions of people suffer the consequences of policy that leaves them sick, pissed off, brokenhearted, in debt, and alone while corporations and the very wealthy make more money and get more power over our healthcare system. We are building a union for patients that creates community, support, and advocacy where our current system isolates us.

What’s the difference between joining the email list and becoming a member?

If you join the email list, you will receive updates and stories about what The Patients Union is up to. We’ll let you know what we’re working on and invite you to take action when there’s a healthcare fight that needs your voice.

Joining the Union as a member will open up access to more of our offerings, including connection with patients across the country, invitations to online and in-person events where we share information about navigating the healthcare system, understanding your rights, and fighting against common roadblocks. Members will also have access to expert support for troubleshooting insurance issues such as appealing claims denials or applying for charity care, peer support for tough situations, and opportunities to shape the fights the Union takes on.

What does it cost to become a member?

For now as we launch The Patients Union, membership is free and we are not collecting dues. We plan to establish a dues system in the future, but will be sharing information about that well before the dues system kicks in. We want everyone who wants to join the Union to be able to join without cost being a barrier!

Where is The Patients Union located?

The Patients Union is a U.S.-based national membership organization, so you can join from wherever you are in the U.S. We have in-person and online events, and you can learn more about different ways to get involved by joining our email list or following us on social media.
